On the Wave of Fashion: Art and Fashion Agents of Cultural Transformation
浪潮之尚 ——艺术与时尚—文化转型推动者
Mar 27, 2024 | 2:30 PM
The Hong Kong Jockey Club Auditorium, Hong Kong Palace Museum
In a world of universal interconnection brimming with innovation across various realms of human endeavor, a dynamic landscape of transformation and fusion has emerged, riding the crest of the cultural waves of our time.
MoCA Shanghai will present the forum titled “On the Wave of Fashion: Art and Fashion as Agents of Cultural Transformation.” on 27th Mar., supporting by the Hong Kong Palace Museum. Esteemed speaker and moderator including Connie Karol Burks, Curator of Fashion from the Victoria and Albert Museum, Dr. Ingrid Yeung from the Hong Kong Palace Museum, and Miriam Sun, Executive Director of MoCA Shanghai, will delve into the synergistic potential of art and fashion amidst today’s cultural crosscurrents. Their focus lies on the pivotal role of “fashion curation,” examining its impactful implementations. In an age where the diversification is sought after exhibitions, exhibitions of fashion have seamlessly woven themselves into the fabric of museums. Fashion curators are tasked not only with an expert grasp of fashion history but also with an enhanced appreciation of art. Through the fusion of art and fashion, exhibitions are rendered not just visually captivating but also intellectually enriching, concurrently propelling the evolution of the fashion industry. Within the established museum system of the West, fashion curators have now assumed an indispensable mantle, vital for the advancement of museums into new fields of cultural discourse and exploration.
